Introduction

I registered with Medinet in December 2012 following hearing about Medinet through fellow consultant ophthalmologists choosing to register due to first-hand experience of seeing Medinets very well organised team who have high quality patient ethics and safety control which sets them apart.

Background

I trained in Ophthalmology as it is generally at the fore front of new technology and constant clinical and surgical advancements, I trained in South India and my Ophthalmology career started in a large non-profit institute (Aravind Eye hospital Madurai) where I learnt a lot about helping the poor / blind people. Following this I did my HST (registrar) at Oxford and competed my Corneal sub-speciality at Perth, Australia before setting in at University hospital of Derby and Burton as a Corneal consultant.Outside of my role I am a member of the Fellowship of the Royal Colleges of Surgeons, Edinburgh examiner, and a Royal College Corneal Graft web-lab tutor.

Medinet Experience

A typical shift is not too different from my day-to-day substantive role except that the Medinet team is very well organised and geared towards high volume cataract surgery along with maintaining high quality care. A typical shift will see me assessing patients for cataract in the clinic and high-volume high-quality cataract surgery in Day Case setting.The best thing about working with Medinet is the very happy patients as they wait less due to the usual quick turn-around! It is a great use of resources, especially during the weekends, when the usual high quality local facilities are not being utilised considering the amount of patients waiting for surgery unnecessarily.
