Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

May 2016 - Present

Situation
Medinet engaged with the Trust in May 2016 when they were anticipating not meeting some of their quality and waiting time targets in Endoscopy. The Trust was operating at close to capacity during weekdays and we worked with their operational and clinical teams to identify where there was capacity to deliver additional services without having an impact on the Trust’s own services.

Task
During a thorough mobilisation planning period we undertook a comprehensive site visit and exchanged information to develop an understanding of processes, policies and procedures to develop a service delivery plan that closely mirrors the pathways that the Trust has in place. Medinet engaged with the Trust to discuss their required flexibility from their provider to mobilise one, two or three teams of Consultants, Nurses and decontamination operatives within 14 days of notification.

Action
Medinet was able to mobilise within 2 weeks, and our teams quickly started delivering services over weekends. Our teams complete between 24 and 28 JAG points per room, per day and are seeing routine diagnostic mixed lists of OGDs, Colonoscopies and Sigmoidoscopies. If required we also see surveillance and 2-week-wait patients for the Trust. We able to flex our supply of teams to allow the trust to maintain its excellent positions.

Result
Medinet and Nottingham have a strong on-going relationship that has ensured the Trust meets its targets for diagnostic pathways. To date Medinet has completed in excess of 3,340 procedures on behalf of the Trust, representing over 7,000 JAG points.
